Hey World,
I am introducing myself to all you good folks.; I’m new to the blogging community, and I’m excited to be here.
I have a story, and I am charged to share it creatively.
I also have expertise in surviving self and sobriety, “self-sober.” With sixteen years and some change of long-term active recovery, I have a few tips, insight, and practical experience on drug addiction that I at least believe might be helpful to the sober curious, or person active in recovery and looking to continue the work in discovering self.
For those who love an addict, I have facilitated a support group for Family and Friends of Addicted Loved Ones (F.A.L.O.) for over three years. I know, right. Me an addict helping those who love an addict find their road of self-care, serenity, and walking a little closer to God. Yes, It is faith-based and part of God’s humor.
I won’t get all Christianese. However, my journey from addiction to healing is seen through the tinted lens of Christ.
There are more days than not that sobriety takes on the color of pink peonies, friendly yellow daisies, and a white butterfly or two. Then there are days the gravity of being sober looks like a red teardrop falling from the heart or chilling blue ice down the spine. Sometimes, we may sit in black darkness, and that’s okay, as long as you intend to lift the shade.
Sobriety is not every day easy. When circumstances and situations are a ton heavy, you better have a source of true strength that you’ve been working out with to cling on to. Remember, without sobriety, there is no recovery, and without recovery, there is no healing, and without healing, the wounds keep us stuck, and life moves on without us.
And for the loved ones who love an addict or alcoholic, your journey is your own. You can no more control the chaos of an addict, as an active addict can manage a bank account. You have to take care of yourself, beginning with reality.
I’ve gone on way longer than planned.
Thanks for your attentive time; meet you back here soon.
“There is no agony like having an untold story inside you.”
